Also, he introduced Charlie Chaplin’s style to Indian cinema. Later, Raj Kapoor adopted the same in his classic comedy movies.

Padosan is a musical comedy film released on 29th November 1968. It was directed by Jyoti Swaroop and was produced by Mehmood and N. C. Sippy and was written by Rajendra Krishan. It was a remake of the Bengali language film, Pasher Bari which was released in 1952. It is a musical comedy and was considered one of the best comedy films in the history of Hindi movies. This is one of the finest films one must watch starring Sunil Dutt, Saira Banu, Kishore Kumar, and Mehmood.

It is a story of an innocent young man, Bhola who lives with his maternal aunt. There he finds a beautiful young neighbour, Bindu, and falls in love with her. Bhola with the help of his singer friend tries to woe her pretending as if he is singing and she gets impressed with his voice. But after she comes to know the reality and agrees to marry another guy, rejecting Bhola. Bhola unable to stop her marrying someone else, with the help of his friends fakes his death and in the end, Bindu comes realizes her love for him and they get married.

2. Ishq

Ishq movie is a Hindi language romantic comedy film. It was released on 28th November 1997. It was directed by Indra Kumar and produced by Gordhan Tanwani. Ishq stars Amir Khan, Ajay Devgan, Juhi Chawla, and Kajol as lead roles and Dalip Tahil, Sadashiv Amrapurkar, Johnny Lever, and Mona Joshi in supporting roles. In 1997 this film grossed Rs. 505 million and became the third highest-grossing Hindi film.

This classic comedy movie is a story of two friends one is Ajay who is the son of a wealthy man and Raja who is not wealthy and is a mechanic. The two friends fall in love with two girls which Ajay falls for a poor girl, Kajal, and Raja falls for a girl of a wealthy father, Madhu. Kajal and Madhu are good friends. Ajay and Madhu’s father are friends and despise the poor. When they saw their children marrying the poor they played a trick and created a misunderstanding between the four. But in the end, love wins and the misunderstandings sort out.

Hero no. 1 is a Hindi comedy-drama film directed by David Dhawan and produced by Vashu Bhagnani. Govinda and Karishma Kapoor can be seen as lead roles. Paresh Rawal, Kader Khan, Shakti Kapoor, and Satish Shah played crucial roles in this film. It was released on 21st February 1997. Its budget was Rs. 6.7 crore and earned Rs 31 crore.

It is a story of Rajesh Malhotra, son of a wealthy businessman, Dhanraj. Rajesh is bored with his life with his father because he never lets him live according to his wish and he escapes from his house and reaches Europe. There he finds Meena who got a scholarship to study in Europe. Her parents died when she was a kid and she lives with her grandfather and uncles and aunts. Rajesh and Meena fall in love but due to an accident, Meena’s grandfather hates Dhanraj and refuses Rajesh’s marriage proposal. After that for Meena, Rajesh starts to work as a servant at her house, also to impress her grandfather. He solves all the problems of that family, and in the end, they come to know the reality and love wins.

4. Bhool Bhulaiya

Talking about classic comedy movies in Bollywood, Bhool Bhulaiya can’t be missed! This is a horror comedy film directed by Priyadarshan and produced by Bhushan Kumar and Krishna Kumar. It is an official remake of the 1993 Malayalam film, Manichitrathazhu. The film stars Akshay Kumar, Shiney Ahuja, Vidya Balan, Ameesha Patel, Paresh Rawal, Manoj Joshi, Asrani, Rajpal Yadav, and Vikram Gokhale. It was released on 12th October 2007.

This story revolves around Avni who comes to her husband’s native village from the United States. They had a mansion there and rumours were that ghost of a dancer, Manjulika resides on the top floors of the mansion. Avni found that place interesting and opened the floor which was locked with mantras. After that, the members of the family witnessed paranormal activities in the mansion. Seeing the situation the owner of the mansion, Siddhart (Avni’s husband) called his friend Aditya who is a psychiatrist, suspecting one member of the house, Radha being the reason behind the activities. But Aditya suspects and concludes that Avni was doing all that. Avni becomes Manjulika at night and wants to kill the owner Siddhart. Aditya performs what Avni wants as a trick and cures Avni at the end.

5. Golmaal Again

Golmaal Again is an action comedy film directed by Rohit Shetty and produced by Rohit Shetty and Sangeeta Ahir. It was released on 20th October 2017 Starring Ajay Devgan, Parineeti Chopra, Tabu, Arshad Warsi, Tushar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade, Kunal Khemu, Johnny Lever, Sanjay Mishra, Prakash Raj, and Neil Nitin Mukesh. It earned around Rs 311 crore. Golmaal Again is the fourth instalment of the classic Bollywood comedy movies franchise – Golmaal.

The story of the film revolves around 5 friends, Gopal (who is afraid of ghosts), Madhav, Lucky (who cannot speak), Laxman, and Laxman (who has a speech impediment). They lived in an orphanage managed by businessman Jamnadas. One day they found a baby girl Khushi and took care of her. After that, they left the orphanage. After 25 years they returned to the orphanage again where they saw Khushi, unknowing her to be a ghost. Then the story takes a turn and shows how the 5 friends helped Khushi to take revenge on the ones who killed her.
