How To Maintain Proper Oral Hygiene?

It is very important to practise oral hygiene on a regular basis to prevent many dental diseases and bad breath. Well, no one wants to carry any oral disease or affected tooth or even foul odour. Everyone wants to have a confident smile. Trust me, when you take care of your oral hygiene, it reflects in your personality and boosts your confidence. BUT, we all are often unaware of How to Maintain Oral Hygiene?

What is oral hygiene?

Oral hygiene is the practice of keeping your mouth clean and free of disease or any other problems. Brushing teeth and cleaning properly between the teeth helps your oral hygiene. Your smile and your overall health status depend on your simple dental care habits. Here’s a dentist’s knowledge to not only answer How to Maintain Oral Hygiene but also help you all have a pretty and healthy smile! Don’t worry, we have got you all covered.

How to maintain proper oral hygiene?

1) Don’t go to the bed without brushing your teeth!

Each one of us is aware of the general recommendation to brush teeth at least twice a day. Let us face the truth… many of us still continue to neglect to brush our teeth at night. I want you to understand that brushing before bed gets rid of the germs, accumulated food particles and plaque that stick to teeth throughout the day. And imagine going to bed with that much plaque on your teeth which leads to bad odour! So, better start brushing at night!

2) Don’t neglect your tongue while brushing

Plaque can also build up on your tongue. This leads to bad mouth odour and breath and other oral health problems. So, get a  tongue cleaner or you can even gently brush your tongue every time you brush your teeth.

3) Treat flossing as important as brushing.

It is a good way to clean the gums beside your tooth, reduce the plaque, and help lower inflammation in those areas. Flossing once a day is usually enough to get these benefits.

4) Use the proper equipment for brushing.

Fluoride toothpaste and a soft-bristled toothbrush that fits your mouth comfortably would work really well. You can even consider using an electric or battery-operated toothbrush which reduces plaque and a very mild form of gum disease (gingivitis) at a faster rate, as compared to manual brushing.

5) Practice good brushing technique.

Hold your toothbrush at a slight angle aiming the bristles toward the area where your tooth meets your gums, then gently brush with circular short back and forth motions.

School children are generally guided by the phrase – “Front teeth up and down and back teeth round and round”.

6) Know when to replace your toothbrush.

Make sure to invest in a new toothbrush every three months. You might think that your brush looks brand new, but you have to realise, after a span of three to four months the bristles flay or become irregular.

7)Be gentle with brushing.

Brushing too hard or with hard bristles can hurt your gums and teeth. It is a misconception that brushing hard and for long-duration cleans teeth better. It is a big “No!” The outer surface of teeth, called enamel, wears off by hard brushing, so stay gentle with brushing.

8) Visit your dentist regularly

This might be the last tip, but it is the most important one. You should visit your dentist at least twice a year because your doctor knows your oral health best. He might alert you of the possible diseases and treat them accurately!

In addition to daily brushing and flossing, you can also consider :

  • using a mouthwash containing fluoride for better oral health.
  • avoid using toothpicks or other objects that could injure your gums and let in bacteria.
  • Resist the use of tobacco and smoking. Tobacco consumption increases your risk of many fatal diseases, including gum disease and tooth.

Your own everyday habits are very much crucial to your overall oral health. Still, even the most dutiful brushers and flossers need checkups and visit a dentist regularly for checkups. As we get older, dental care for adults becomes much more crucial. Incidences of gum diseases, oral cancer or periodontal diseases increases with age. Therefore, follow these tips religiously. Again, visit your dentist regularly to flaunt your happy and healthy smile.

  1. Thanks for your ideas. One thing I’ve got noticed is the fact that banks in addition to financial institutions really know the spending behaviors of consumers while also understand that most of the people max out and about their real credit cards around the breaks. They prudently take advantage of that fact and then start flooding your inbox in addition to snail-mail box using hundreds of Zero APR credit cards offers shortly when the holiday season ends. Knowing that should you be like 98 of all American general public, you’ll leap at the chance to consolidate consumer credit card debt and move balances towards 0 annual percentage rates credit cards.

This is beneficial because on the week-ends, you will be more rested in addition to concentrated with school work. Many thanks for the different ideas I have mastered from your weblog.
