Most of the free sugar converted is released into the bloodstream. It helps in the production of the energy required for various biochemical processes. The key product for the making of energy lies in “insulin”, which is triggered release from “beta cells” in the islets of Langerhans located in the pancreas.

The main role of insulin is to convert the excess amount of carbohydrate units present in the bloodstream to promote its use as energy for life processes. It also helps in the storage of glucose in fatty, muscle, liver, and other body tissues. Both these functions help in decreasing the blood sugar level.
